Ilioupolis Animal Welfare Union have been a recognised animal welfare organisation since 1997, making them one of the oldest in Greece. This is where the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, adopted his dog Peanut from! They rescue and care for stray animals in the Municipality of Ilioupolis and beyond. Every year their team of 50 volunteers work day and night to medically treat, feed, vaccinate and sterilise a huge number of animals, and through social media they promote the adoption of approximately 200 stray cats and dogs every year. Last year, they helped rescue and rehome dogs from the Municipality of Sparta shelter after its awful conditions were exposed. We are very honoured to be working with Ilioupolis Animal Welfare Union to help the stray cats and dogs in this area!
