Our Local Partnerships Programme launched in 2021, with the aim of supporting and bringing to light the work of some amazing local animal welfare organisations across Greece. This year, we have chosen more small organisations to provide vital funding, and over the course of the year will give updates on the animals it’s helping. We’re very pleased to announce our first of 2022 – Greek Cat Rescue Samos!

Located on the Greek island of Samos, just a mile off the Turkish coast in the Eastern Aegean Sea, Greek Cat Rescue Samos was born in 2010. Volunteers who visited the island on holiday witnessed the suffering of the street cats and felt compelled to help do something to improve their lives, and prevent more from being born onto the streets.

Their team work 365 days a year to create a better life for Samos’ cats, through their main goals:

  • Sterilising stray cats to reduce the population
  • Feeding street cats, especially in tough winter months
  • Providing medical care for sick and wounded cats
  • Taking care of rescued cats at their volunteer ran shelter
