EMERGENCY RESPONSE – MANDRA FLOODS

Flood update: We sent Serafina to visit Mandra this weekend (25-26/2/2017). She took medicines to the volunteers who are working to find and care for the dogs affected by last week’s floods. She reported that there are about 40-50 stray dogs wondering around various bits of waste ground on the edge of town. Serafina joined the local volunteers who have been trying to locate them and provide them with the basics – food and clean water. After surviving the cold and wet, some of the dogs seem to be in a weakened state, so the volunteers were very grateful to have the antibiotics and anti-parasite medications we brought with us, which will help strengthen them and give them a better chance of making it through the coming winter.
