Animal Action Greece appoints Joe Bailey as Chief Executive Officer

Animal Action Greece (AAG) is delighted to announce the appointment of Joe Bailey as its new Chief Executive Officer. Joe will join the organisation in June 2026, bringing with her a strong track record of leadership and a deep commitment to animal welfare.

Joe joins AAG from Humanimal Trust, where she has led the organisation’s work to advance the concept of One Medicine, strengthening the links between human and animal healthcare. Her passion for improving the lives of vulnerable animals, alongside her belief in the importance of community engagement and compassion, aligns closely with AAG’s mission and values.

In announcing her appointment, David Salisbury-Jones, Chair of Animal Action Greece, said:

“We are delighted that Joe will be joining us as our new CEO. She brings a strong track record of leadership, a deep commitment to animal welfare, and an ability to connect purpose with practical delivery. The Board is confident that Joe will provide the leadership needed to guide the organisation through its next phase. We very much look forward to welcoming her and working together to build on the charity’s strong foundations and long-standing commitment to improving the welfare of animals in Greece.”

Joe Bailey said:

“I am incredibly honoured to be joining Animal Action Greece this June. I want to share a huge thank you to D’Arcy for his dedicated leadership as interim CEO; he has laid a fantastic foundation for me to build upon. I can’t wait to pull up my sleeves, get stuck in, and start working alongside our fantastic team in Greece and the UK. Most importantly, I’m looking forward to listening to and learning from the local communities we serve. Together, we will continue to drive meaningful change and improve the lives of the animals who need us most.”

Reflecting on her decision to join Animal Action Greece, Joe added that returning to the heart of frontline welfare work, supporting vulnerable animals directly while fostering compassion and responsibility within communities, was an opportunity she “couldn’t turn down.”

Joe succeeds the current Interim CEO, D’Arcy Myers, who has led the organisation through a period of transition and laid important groundwork for its next phase. Celebrating their 60th anniversary this year, Joe’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Animal Action Greece as it continues to develop sustainable, community-focused approaches to animal welfare across Greece.
