Celebrating World Animal Day with exciting news!

This World Animal Day (October 4th), we’re proud to share some very exciting news: our own Operations Assistant, Sofia Levanti, has been appointed as the new World Animal Day Ambassador for Greece!

World Animal Day is a global movement that unites people across the world in celebrating animals and raising awareness of their welfare. Ambassadors play a vital role in connecting local animal welfare work with this international platform, ensuring that the needs and voices of animals are heard far and wide.

For over 65 years, Animal Action Greece has been working to protect and improve the lives of animals across the country. From providing veterinary care to stray cats and dogs, to supporting working equines, and promoting compassion through education and advocacy, our mission is rooted in creating a kinder future for all animals.

Sofia’s appointment as Ambassador strengthens the connection between our work here in Greece and the global animal welfare community. She will help bring international attention to the unique challenges animals face in Greece, while also showcasing the inspiring efforts of local communities and organisations making a difference every day.

“I’m truly honoured to become the World Animal Day Ambassador for Greece. Through this role, I hope to bring more attention to the challenges animals face here, but also to celebrate the incredible work being done by communities and organisations across the country. By connecting with the international movement, we can make an even greater difference together.” – Sofia Levanti

We couldn’t be prouder to see Sofia step into this role, and we look forward to working with her – and with World Animal Day – to raise awareness, spark change, and give animals the brighter future they deserve.
