We are delighted to welcome Joe Bailey as the new Chief Executive Officer of Animal Action Greece.
Joe joins the charity with more than 30 years of experience in animal welfare, bringing a deep commitment to creating a world where compassion and respect for animals are the norm. She has long admired the work of Animal Action Greece and believes the organisation has played a vital role in improving the lives of animals across Greece for the past six decades.
Beginning her career on the frontline as an RSPCA Inspector, Joe gained first-hand experience of protecting vulnerable animals and supporting communities. She later went on to lead significant change within the sector, serving for seven years as Head of Farming, Welfare and Wellbeing at RSPCA Assured, where she worked to drive higher welfare standards across the farming industry.
Most recently, Joe was Chief Executive Officer of Humanimal Trust championing the connection between human and animal health through a One Medicine approach. Her influence also extends internationally, having served on two global boards, including One Welfare Phoenix.
Speaking about her approach to leadership, Joe reflects on the inspiration she found in her late rescue dog, Molly, a much-loved border collie.
“Molly taught me to live in the present, find joy in every moment, and stay focused on the goal ahead. No matter the obstacles, she never gave up. I carry that same determination with me in my work and will never stop striving to improve the lives of animals.”
Joe believes that by fostering empathy and shared responsibility, both humans and animals can thrive together, a vision that closely aligns with Animal Action Greece’s mission.
Outside of work, Joe lives in Upton-upon-Severn with her three rescue cats: Betty, Sybil and Mo. A keen runner and wildlife advocate, she enjoys spending weekends walking and collecting litter to help protect local wildlife and natural spaces.
